So… this happened! A few days after I returned from recording my anthem for the Blue Angels in Los Angeles, I went out to the Brew Ha Ha bar to meet with a few friends who were excited to hear about my trip and the song. I met the manager of the bar (the lovely Angela Walker) and she insisted that I let the DJ (who was playing classic rock videos) play my new song, “The Blues Are Back In Town.” He did… and the crowd loved it! Angela then had me say a few words to the patrons about the song, and then she tells the crowd that the number 5 pilot for the Blues was in the house. I was excited and applauded with everyone else and proceeded to sit back down with my friends. A few seconds later, Number 5 himself (LT Tyler Davies, #5 Lead Solo Pilot) came walking towards me. He stuck out his hand and said, “that was really awesome!” I thanked him and expressed my gratitude for the Blues and what an inspiration they are to me and so many… and then I said, “please tell the other pilots about it.” And he shot back, “oh, don’t worry – I will!” We had our picture taken and he and his wife went back to their table, as I went back to my friends… who were freaking out along with me about the incredible timing of what just happened. It was such an incredible experience. Before the pilot and his wife left, he came over to me once again to express his appreciation and excitement over the anthem. I left the place elated!
But the emotions of this day weren’t done for me yet… that same evening, in the middle of the night, my father passed away. What a devastating loss. I’ve waited to post this for obvious reasons, but I wanted to share this experience with you all now. God is good, through the ups and the downs!
Known at Armstrong as “Brad”… to his mom and sisters as “Sonny”… to his nieces and nephews as “Uncle Son” or “Uncle Henry”… and to this proud boy, “DAD”!!!
