Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on leadership for all day-to-day activities, including operations, safety, maintenance, dispatch, fleet management, payroll, and scheduling.
  • Supervise, develop, and mentor a diverse team of exempt and non-exempt employees.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, staff, community partners, and local officials.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal policies, regulatory standards, and contractual obligations.
  • Oversee recruiting, hiring, onboarding, retention, coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Manage budgeting, P&L, forecasting, and financial controls for the location.
  • Resolve issues related to driver shortages, resource allocation, labor variances, and customer concerns.
  • Drive employee engagement, recognition, and a culture of safety.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for escalated issues, customer inquiries, and community relations.
  • Collaborate with senior management to identify local commercial growth opportunities and maximize charter revenue.
  • Lead union contract administration and labor relations (where applicable).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent management experience.
  • At least 3 years of management experience (preferably with responsibility for a small location or department).
  • Minimum of 5 years in operations management, preferably in transportation, logistics, or a related field.
  • Strong financial and budgetary skills, including P&L and forecasting experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and operational technology platforms.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop teams in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and compliance.
